From the early 1800’s  to present day, Ashburn and Brooklin have been destination locations for settlers seeking that ideal spot to create a home, establish roots and build a foundation established in strength, hope, integrity, wholeness and provision.  Instinctively these early settlers and modern families have hungered for a place to gather together and celebrate their love for God.  A key within the spiritual foundation at Burns has always been a desire to worship the Lord, biblically, creatively, prayerfully, relevantly and passionately.

Have a look at this telling of our church’s history.

Rev. Dr. Rob Kennedy

Rob grew up on a dairy farm in the Leaskdale community and married Jill in 1986.  They have two daughters, two sons and a new son-in-law.  After doing a Business Degree at Trent University and working in sales for a few years, Rob followed the Lord’s call to church ministry at the age of 27.  He served as the Youth and Camp Minister for 15 years at Knox (Spadina) and St. Andrew’s Parry Sound in addition to serving as the lead minister at St. John’s Port Perry.  Rob loves pick-up football, hockey, writing music, hanging out with the family and the Blue Jays!…

“I’m looking forward to ministering with the congregation of Burns Church as we share the message and love of Christ to our community and beyond to the increase of God’s Kingdom.”

Matthew 28:19-20
